Alix’s bothy is a quirky and cosy one bedroom Bothy cottage at the heart of Auchnafree Estate. Year round you can relax and unwind away from the chaos of daily life. Come rain or shine, the bothy is a perfect base from which to explore the area, and the log burning stove creates an ideal space to relax and reflect on the day’s adventures, and perhaps even enjoy a wee Dram. Bursting with character and history, you will not be disappointed with what’s to offer inside and out.
The Space
A cosy but spacious cottage with a warm and relaxing feel. An entrance porch with space for outdoor kit leads to a fully equipped open plan kitchen and lounge area, complete with a wood burning stove. A further utility space connects the lounge to a large double bedroom and a good-sized bathroom, with a shower and bath to soak in after a day out. The Bothy sleeps two guests with space for one small child on our single bed and/or a cot (cot to be brought by guest).
- The kitchen is fully equipped including oven, fridge/freezer, microwave cooking equipment and crockery.
- No satellite TV but access to firestick with personal login only.
Sustainability
Here at Auchnafree we are always looking towards environmentally friendly alternatives. Alix’s Bothy benefits from our estate biomass which supplies our guests with heating and hot water though a sustainable energy source.

Other things to note
The last stretch to Auchnafree consists of a 5 mile stone track from the tarmac road. Please take it steady on your way down as the road is unpaved. Vehicle access to Bothy for guests only.
